FAQ

Khmer for Khmer Organisation

Where is my donation going?

Your donation goes to the entire organisation.

You will help to ensure that KKO can continue the free school and training offers for children and young adults. In addition, the salaries of our Cambodian team can be supported by donations.

Can I sponsor an individual child?

Why should you support one child instead of supporting a whole school?

We want to provide as many children with free education as we can and protect their privacy. Therefore, we do not offer individual donations or child sponsorships.

Will I receive a donation receipt?

Unfortunately we cannot issue donation receipts. This is due to our account at virginmoneygiving, which does not allow it. On the other hand, sending donation receipts worldwide for donations to the German or Cambodian account is an overly high cost factor for KKO. We hope for your understanding.

Who are the educational programs aimed at?

The Khmer for Khmer Organisation’s educational projects are aimed at children and young adults from underprivileged backgrounds and rural areas of Siem Reap. KKO places a special focus on girls and women, as they still occupy a subordinate position in Cambodian society.

OFF TRACK Tours

How can I pay?

Our customers pay after the tour at our office in cash and by credit card. It doesn’t matter if you pay in Dollar or Riel.

We accept payments by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover and Diners Club – both credit & debit cards.

What is included in the price?

We provide Giant Mountain bikes in a very good quality. Additionally we provide a battle of water, a helmet and our great experienced tour guides.

Is the Angkor Ticket included?

No, you can purchase it a day before your tour between 5:00pm and 5:30pm or we stop at the Angkor Ticket Booth before we enter the Angkor Park.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes we do, in case you need to pay a deposit, we will refund 100% if you cancel more than 1 day before the tour starts. If you cancel after 1 day before the tour starts we will not refund the money.

Do I need to have much cycling experience?

No, Cambodia is a very flat country and we only cycle on flat terrain. It can get a little bit tricky during the rainy season but our guide are always aware of the safety of our customers

Should I do the Half-Day Countryside Tour in the morning or afternoon?

It depends on the season. From November to February we recommend both but especially the afternoon tour because the sunset is very early and you will ride back to town in a beautiful red/orange light. From March until October we always recommend to do the tour in the morning, because it is much cooler during the hot-season and it normally rains in the afternoon during the rainy season.

Why don’t you visit Angkor Wat?

Angkor Wat is the main attraction and therefore it’s one of the most crowded ones. That’s why we normally skip it and give our customers the opportunity to see a few other more hidden temples.

How should I dress?

You should cover your shoulders and knees while visiting the temples or the local market. It doesn’t really matter how you dress during the ride, just notice that you should dress properly according to the culture.

What do I have to bring with me? (bags, water, snacks)

We provide water and snacks, but you should bring a backpack to carry your belongings with you. It is much more comfortable than carrying it all in your pockets during the ride.

Can I do a motorbike tour even when I can’t ride a motorbike?

Yes, you can hop on the back of our guide and he/she will do the tour with you.

Is it possible to change the itinerary?

In some circumstances it is possible to change our itinerary for the Angkor Tours. Just ask your guide before or during the tour and he will try to do everything in his power to make your wish come true.

Should I buy a one-day or three-day Angkor Pass?

We always recommend to buy a three day pass because our tour doesn’t cover all of the Angkor Park. But it also depends on you, if you are into temples buy a three day pass, if you would like to see more of Siem Reap buy only a one-day pass.

How big are the groups?

We operate in small groups that means our groups are not bigger than 5 people. If we have a larger groups 6 or more a second guide will join the tour to make sure that every customer gets the same attention he or she deserves.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes of course, we have special offers to families. Kids only pay half price if they are younger than 12 years. In case that they are too small to ride by themselves we only charge $5 for the child seat.

How far in advance do I have to book?

We are very flexible but if you want to make sure that your date is available you should book at least two days in advance.

How do I prepare myself for the tour? (clothes /sunglasses /hat, sun protection, breakfast/lunch)

You should have a proper breakfast, because it could become an exhausting day. (For the Angkor Sunrise Tour, we will stop after the sunrise and visiting Angkor Wat at one of our favourite local restaurants to have breakfast) For all of our full-day tours we are going to have lunch at local restaurants. Please note that the lunch is not included in the price. (only for the Phnom Kulen Trekking Tour it’s included)
