Look out for Hindu symbols and discover why Hinduism still plays an important part in a country where Buddhism is practiced by more than 95 percent of the population.
2nd Stop: Local Market
After visiting the local pagoda we will show you around at a local market, where you will feel the busy atmosphere of an authentic Cambodian market. Be brave and taste some of the numerous local rice sweets. Rubbing shoulders with the locals this is a one-of-a-kind experience for your sense of seeing, hearing and smelling.
3rd Stop: Wat Chedei
After visiting a modern pagoda you will also get the chance to explore an ancient temple – a temple even older than Angkor Wat.
4th Stop: Phnom Krom
Before making our way to our favourite restaurant, we will ride to Phnom Krom. From this hill, located south of Siem Reap, you will have a wonderful view over flooded paddy fields, the Tonle Sap Lake and the surrounding villages.
5th Stop: Lunch break
Our next step will be a hammock restaurant where we will have a traditional lunch, surrounded by locals in a calm environment. It’s time to relax a bit in the comfortable hammocks and to enjoy the landscape.
6th Stop: Lotus Farm
Before continuing our way, we will stop at a lotus farm. Take a stroll over a floating bridge between beautiful pink and white lotus flowers. Find out about the special meaning of this pure and clean flower and its use in Cambodian cuisine.
7th Stop (optional): Po Banteaychey Pagoda
On our way to the Mushroom Farm we will pass one of the most beautiful pagoda in this area. If you would like to we can make a stop over there as well and enjoy the impressing architecture.
8th Stop: Mushroom Farm
At the mushroom farm, you will learn more about this complex craft and get to know the family that has been doing this for almost two decades.
9th Stop: Our School
On our way to see our school we will ride through rice fields and small villages to get a impression of the Cambodian countryside. The last stop will be at our local KKO school before riding back to our office. The school was founded in 2009 and offers free education to children from nearby villages. You will be able to see where your donations go and learn about our projects and Cambodia’s educational system.
