Meet Chea Kimheng – One of Our Teachers!

Hello! I’m so excited to introduce myself. My name is Chea Kimheng, and I am currently working as an English teacher at Khmer for Khmer Organization (KKO). This is an NGO that provides English education to students and is located in Chreav Village, Siem Reap Province.

I was born in 2002 and grew up in Khnar Village, Chreav Commune, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. My family has five members: my grandmother, father, mother, aunt, and me. I also have an older brother who lives in a different house because he is married and has two children. My mother is a housewife, and my father was a farmer. They grew vegetables and sold them at the market to earn money for the family. Now that they are older, they have stopped farming and instead rent out rooms to earn an income.

In 2008, when I was 6 years old, I started studying at Khnar Primary School. I was a good student and often ranked 1st, 2nd, or 3rd from Grade 1 to Grade 6, receiving awards from my teachers. My family was not rich; we lived simply. I usually walked to school, although sometimes my family took me there. When I was in Grade 5, I began studying English at KhnarPrimary School and continued for two years.

In 2014, I attended Angkor High School from Grade 7 to Grade 12. I was not at the very top anymore because studying became more difficult, and there were many clever students, but I still performed well. In Grade 9, I studied hard and achieved a very good result on my diploma. In Grade 11, I received a certificate for 2nd place in my class. In 2020, I graduated from high school, but due to COVID-19, we were all passed automatically.

After Grade 12, I continued my studies at the University of South-East Asia (USEA), majoring in English for Education. I studied for about three months before COVID-19 started again, and my university switched to online learning. In my second year, I returned to in-person classes until I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in 2024.

In 2022, I began working as an English teacher at Khmer for Khmer Organization (KKO), which provides free English education to underprivileged children. Our NGO school is located in Chreav Village, Siem Reap Province.

After almost three years of working at KKO, I have learned many things and gained valuable experience. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be an English teacher.

Finally, I truly hope that many more Cambodian children will have the chance to receive quality English education through my teaching career, alongside other dedicated teachers at KKO.
